FAQ about OSHA
A: The Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
- Q: Why is the Goverment concerned about my Safety at work?
A: The Government holds employers accountable for unsafe working
conditions. As a way to enforce this OSHA does On- Site inspections. When
they see a unsafe condition they will fined that employer until the condition has
changed.
- Q: How does OSHA receive it 's list of places to visit?
A: There are many ways OSHA collects information. One way is by physically
seeing employees working unsafe. They will start an investigation after seeing
this and when they have enough documentation they will show up on the site.
The second most commen way is by employees complaining to OSHA through
their Web Page. www.OSHA.gov or Hot line. Another way is by reviewing past
violations, and randomly go back to these companies and make sure that they
still are complying.
A: Yes, by developing a good written safety program that includes training,
documentation of training and good safe work conditions, Osha will see that
you are trying to comply and not worry about your company.
